2008 - 2009 Board of Director Elections
This group of passionate dancers is striving to bring swing dancing and swing dancing awareness to all the corners of San Antonio. Be sure to ask them how they got into swing dancing!
We'll be conducting Board Elections at our Board meeting in May (Date TBA). All board positions will be elected at that time so if you'd like to help the Society, please email Raleigh. You will need to attend this meeting or send someone to represent you to run.
President
(Currently held by: Raleigh Chen)
Duties Include:
- Convene, preside, or arrange for others to preside over regular monthly scheduled Board meetings
- Provide the Vision and Direction for the organization
- Conducts official and legal business for the Society
- Manage assignment and accountability of tasks assigned to other Board Members
Vice-President
(Currently held by: Andrea Deaton)
Duties Include:
- Chair of the Committee of Instructors – manages the curriculum taught in the lessons
- Organizes instructors, DJ’s, and front door workers for weekly lessons
- Takes over as President if the President can no longer fulfill his/her duties
Treasurer
(Currently held by: Tracie Boggess)
Duties Include:
- Keeps reports of the current financial state of the Society
- Tracks income/expenses based on category and Instructor Credit Accounts for the Society
- Manages disbursements of funds for reimbursement
- Tracks goals for the annual budget for the Society
Membership Director
(Currently held by: Femi Akingbala)
Duties Include:
- Maintains the current list of paid members
- Creates and distributes all membership cards to paid members
- Maintains email listing for those interested in Society communications
Communications Director
(Currently held by: Jennie Dunnavant)
Duties Include:
- Sends out regular event announcements for lessons and other Society events
- Responds to email and general inquiries about the Society’s activities
Secretary
(Currently held by: Kimberly Fodge)
Duties Include:
- Keeps record of actions, agendas, and minutes of Board meetings
- Manages and distributes advertising fliers and postcards for regular lessons and special events
Event Coordinator
(New Position, no current Board Member)
Duties Include:
- Plans and directs special events for the Society (chief responsibility is Fundraiser Ball and LIOSA)
- Runs the event when it happens and is the decision authority on events when the President is not available
College Liaison
(New Position, no current Board Member)
Duties Include:
- Coordinates communication and program activities with college campuses
- Responsible for contacts within UTSA Swing Cats and Trinity Swing Bums
- Plans and directs any new programs with the college campuses
