The Dirty River Jazz Band Ft. Kate Kortum

This month they feature an amazing up and coming vocalist, 𝐊𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐊𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐦! She is a 20 year old jazz vocalist from Houston TX. Kate began her love for jazz and music at Houston's prestigious High School for the Performing and Visual arts where she concentrated her studies in flute, but ultimately fell in love with singing. She is a 2019-2021 Downbeat Magazine Student Music Award Winner, a 2018 & 2019 YoungArts Winner in jazz voice, and has performed at various venues including the 2018 Newport Jazz Festival, and the world renowned Birdland Jazz Club in New York City. She additionally has worked with fine musicians like La Tanya Hall, Sheila Jordan, The New York Voices, Allison Wedding, and all of her peers. Kortum is currently studying at the University of Miami's Frost School of Music where she studies jazz voice under the direction of Kate Reid.
